The USMLE Announced early February that they will be updating the Multiple Choice Software. These changes will go into effect for Step 3 only starting March 10, 2026. The changes are fairly minor. The changes include:
1 - Flag question icon has been moved inside the question
2 - Next Buttons are now arrows instead of Triangles
3 - Question Status like 1/50 is now between the Next Buttons
4 - Ability to answer a question by using keyboard hotkeys A, B, C, D, E instead of the mouse
5 - A button strike out which appears next to each answer choice that you can select to strike out that answer.
6 - Image Invert and Image Contrast bar to adjust images presented on the exam.
7 - Changes to icons
8 - Other minor changes of selecting text inside a menu instead of selecting an icon.
The CCS Application will be the same as before the software update.
